Reaching customers by phone is more challenging than ever for businesses. Between mislabeling, spoofing, and aggressive spam filtering, many legitimate organizations struggle to get their calls answered. A large percentage of consumers now ignore unknown numbers entirely, costing companies opportunities, damaging customer relationships, and impacting revenue.
If outbound calls are part of your business strategy, you can’t afford to leave things to chance. Registering your business numbers with First Orion is one of the first steps to mitigate mislabeling of your numbers.
What is Business Number Registration?
Business Number Registration is the process of submitting your company’s information and outbound calling numbers so that major carriers can vet and verify them. Once registered, your calls are more likely to display accurately and less likely to be mislabeled as spam.
What is First Orion’s Business Registration API?
The manual process of registering numbers one by one can be slow and inefficient when managing a high volume of business numbers. Business Number Registration API offers a streamlined, scalable solution for automating phone number registration and ongoing management, purpose-built for high-volume workflows.
Integrating with the Business Number Registration API is straightforward, with implementation details available in First Orion’s Developer Portal. Our API offers a single point of entry and users register and manage businesses and their calling numbers via API end-points. First Orion will verify registrations using standard vetting processes.
Important: Businesses must have the right-to-use each phone number submitted through the Business Number Registration API. Phone numbers without verified ownership or authorization will not pass the vetting process and will not be registered.
Note: API access supports T-Mobile registrations only.

Business Registration API FAQs
Which carrier networks does the API support?
Currently, the Business Number Registration API supports registrations on the T-Mobile network.
What is the vetting process, and how long does it take?
After you submit numbers through the API, First Orion applies standard business vetting procedures to verify that your organization has the right to use each submitted number. You may be asked for additional support documents for phone numbers that do not pass vetting — for example, numbers your organization does not own or is not authorized to use.
Can I register numbers that my company doesn't own?
No. Each phone number submitted through the Business Number Registration API must have a verified right-to-use by the submitting organization. Numbers without confirmed ownership or authorization will not pass vetting and will not be registered. This policy exists to protect consumers and maintain the integrity of the caller ID ecosystem.
Can I update or reassign numbers after registration?
Yes. The API supports real-time number management, meaning you can modify, reassign, or deactivate numbers without going through the manual portal. This is especially useful for organizations that regularly manage large quantities of phone numbers or onboard new clients.
Does registration guarantee my calls won't be labeled as spam?
Registration significantly reduces the likelihood of mislabeling by giving carriers verified information about your business and its numbers. However, it does not guarantee a specific call display outcome — labeling decisions ultimately rest with the carrier and are also influenced by observed calling practices. For the strongest call display results, consider pairing registration with INFORM® Branded Calling, which displays your business name on every outbound call.
What is INFORM® Branded Calling, and how does it differ from registration?
Business Number Registration is the foundational step — it verifies your numbers with carriers and reduces mislabeling risk. INFORM® Branded Calling goes further by actively displaying your business name and logo on the recipient's screen for every call. Registration protects your numbers; Branded Calling actively builds trust with every dial.
